To Do List & Things We Love

I sit here on the couch looking around my living room wondering where my three day weekend has gone. I just started a load of laundry and finally got around to cleaning the soap scum and mildew out of my shower (I'm pretty sure they cooked meth in there at one point, so what's a little soap scum?).

These are the things we still need to accomplish around the house:

1. Call the gutter guys and have gutters put on our house
2. Landscaping
3. Replace the foundation
4. Install baseboards in the kitchen and bathroom
5. Vacuum the lion costume fur as it appears on the furniture
6. Take the laundry out of the washer that just finished its cycle.
7. Throw away our Christmas wreath (yes, our Christmas wreath)
8. Paint the inside of our cabinets
9. Clean out the cat trap
10. Purchase new lamps (because I pretty much broke one in half this weekend)
11. Seriously consider switching to paper plates and cups because we don't have a dishwasher and Jackie's a lazy bum.

These are the things we choose to do instead:

1. Play World of Warcraft (Matt)
2. Watch Matt play World of Warcraft
3. Watch CSI
4. Watch CSI: Miami
5. Watch Psych
6. Watch Dancing Movies
7. Watch George Clooney Movies
8. Read Gardening Magazines
9. Read Papercrafting Magazines
10. Research the cost of opening my own scrapbooking store only to be defeated by the knowledge that I can't name it "Paper Fetish"
11. Take Naps
12. Dream about landscaping
13. Dream about CSI: Miami (No, not like that and Yes, David Caruso is as bad of an actor in my subconscious as he is in real life)

So there you have it. Other than work during the week, attend multiple functions at our church, run errands, complete chores, study and write papers we don't get a lot accomplished during the week except play video games and watch TV. We console ourselves by saying that it won't always be this laid back around the house so we should enjoy it while we can but I can't fight the nagging feeling inside of me that says our free time should be filled with more, more, more and that idleness is a personality defect. I would love to hear from everyone about this. Do you struggle with these feelings? Is anyone else battling the Martha Stewart Complex? Is it any coincidence that her name is MARTHA Stewart and not MARY Stewart?
