What I've Been Doing Instead

Wow! Almost a month without a new post.  It's okay - I have a good excuse.  We have a new tennant in the Munger Home and we've been teaching him the house rules.  Okay, so maybe he's been the one making the rules lately but he's just so darn cute we can't seem to deny him anything.

So here are the stats:  Baby Mange arrived at 12:40 am and weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz, 19.5 inches. Today, at our two week check-up he weighed in at 10 lbs 9 oz and 21.75 inches. What a chunk! We love every pudgy little ounce!

Baby Mange - three days old
My mom was here in Portland for almost two weeks while we waited for my labor to progress, Owen's (aka Baby Mange) delivery and some follow-up mommy and baby care.  We seriously don't know what we would have done without her - she's the best!  My labor lasted around 70 hours and there was some...er...damage from the vaccuum extractor that had me off of my feet for a few extra days.  I'm starting to feel like my old self again.  Well, okay, maybe not my old self - more like how I imagine my old self would feel if my old self only experienced 70 hours of labor but skipped the bajillion stitches that were necessary to put me back together again.

Baby Mange - Two weeks old
I've been crying like a baby at pretty much everything - mostly happy things so far.  Like how grateful I am to have my husband and what a HUGE help he's been.  He has sat with me while I nursed and he bottle fed Baby Mange while I pumped in the first few days.  He's gladly taken the baby for an hour or two so that I can catch up on sleep after long nights of nursing, burping, walking and bouncing a gassy baby.  He's also done plenty of burping, walking, bouncing, shushing, swaddling, and napping with the little guy.  My most favorite thing so far is to see him get excited over cute baby clothes and pick out his outfits for doctor appointments and trips to Target.  He has already changed more diapers than I have (his diaper preferences were firmly established within three days of becoming a father.)  Actually, my favorite thing is to hear him exclaim, "He's so cute!" when Baby Mange makes his cute faces and cute noises.  Or maybe my favorite thing is when he asks to hold him so he can have "cuddle time with his little buddy."

Baby Mange and Daddy Mange taking a well deserved nap
So, while I still haven't started laundry yet (and seeing as how I may have been wearing the same underwear for the last five days I don't think clean laundry is something that I'll need anytime soon) I have been getting a few things done.  So never fear friends, I'll be updating the blog again soon and sharing a little bit more about the last few weeks but right now enjoying my time with our little boy and cherishing these early memories is way more important than clean socks and new blog posts.

He is one adorable little man. I cannot wait to meet him. Once again, I am in awe of you... I think I'm going to start referring to you as my superhero friend.

Amen, sister! Living life is way better than blogging about it. Especially with your miraculous little mister. I feel a few happy tears trying to sneak out myself. :) Hugs!
