Odds and Ends

(1)

A gentleman at church told me I needed to pack my journal so I'd have it at the hospital to record all of the amazing things that happened after the baby was born.  I explained to him that I've started multiple journals over my 29 years of life on this planet and have yet to be consistent with any of them.  For example, I recorded that I "might be interested in this guy I know, Matt Munger..." at the beginning of my Sophomore year of college.  The next entry was dated two months after he asked me to marry him.  Seriously.  Let's chalk JOURNAL up on the list of great ideas that I'm passing on.

Apparently fabric softener is not recommended for use with baby clothes...?  (Does that sound right to anyone else?)  Well, either way, I've never been consistent with it so I'm not too worked up over it.  HOWEVER, for those of you who do use dryer sheets religiously, I found a tip instructing fans of green and frugal living how to make reusable dyer sheets.

For those in the Pacific Northwest, I stumbled upon a blog post highlighting Zaycon Foods in Spokane, Washington.  Long story short, there's a 40 lb chicken giveaway sponsored by Zaycon Foods at FrugalLivingNW.  And for those of you who live near me and are interested in purchasing meat products through Zaycon Foods I'm considering the possibility of splitting the contents of their cases between 3, 4, or even 5 households.  (At $1.48 per pound - no additional hormones, additives, etc - the unit price of the chicken is pretty great so I'm curious to see the prices of their other meats.)  Shoot me an email or leave a comment if you're interested in going in on a box with us.

In reference to 1) yes, I am the same way. I love journals. They're so pretty and have crisp, beautiful pages and bindings. And I start to write in them and a year or two later realize that I only wrote in the first 30 pages before I got distracted and then decided it had been too long that I then needed a new journal...

I made it a goal of mine to write in my journal every day in October, just one page. So far I've done it about half the days. Progress has been made!

Facebook me your email address, ok?

Oh, and in reference to 2)...we used fabric softener. Haven't had any problems. If your baby ends up with a rash though I'd ditch it and see if it helps.

Not 100% sure about this, but I think the reason for no fabric softener or dryer sheets is that it reduces the effectiveness of fire retardant sleepwear.

I was real consistent in keeping a journal when my life was boring, but quit when life was exciting. I skip almost all of the time Mike and I were dating/engaged. And haven't kept one consistently since! But we do have our blogs.

And I love washing baby clothes!! I used to use Dreft...mmm, it smelled so good.
(uthipfli...I got nothin')
