Updates and Prayer Request

First, my camera has a bad CCD Sensor in it. Good news is that Canon will fix it for free and pay for shipping to and from the fix-y place.

Second (and vastly more important than a camera), I have a prayer request for everyone. Our friend Chelsea (a former Chick Night girl and member of our church's youth group) was recently admitted to Portland's Legacy Emmanuel hospital with a Staph A infection (also known as Necrotizing fasciitis or "Flesh Eating Disease").

She suffered a glass cut on her thigh that appeared to have healed itself but within a week she was very sick. When she was first taken to the local hospital they didn't think she was going to make it. After being flown to the Burn Center at Emmanuel, her condition has improved but it is still very, very serious. So far they have taken 50% of the skin from her thigh and a little bit from her back. They have also had to remove small portions of the muscle in her leg. She is being watched night and day by the medical staff (her dad said she has a designated Nurse in her room at all times monitoring her condition). We heard a report today that she was taken off of two of the antibiotics - which I think is good because that means she is improving. As far as I know, she's not awake now but the first time she woke up she was very disoriented and confused by the breathing tube they had in her throat. Her parents and sister are able to sit in the room with her as long as they stay out of the way of the medical staff and don't cause trouble.

Please pray for:
  • The disease not to reappear anywhere on her body.
  • Her blood pressure to remain stable.
  • The antibotics to work
  • Strenghth for her parents (Norm and Colleen) and sister (Shaina)
  • Her parents and sister to stay healthy - if they get sick, they cannot be in the room with her.
  • Courage for Chelsea
Thanks.

Oh, that's horrible. I prayed for her.
