So much, so much has happened in the course of a few days. Matt and I attend a "young marrieds" bible study at our church (yes, we've been married for six and a half years but I told the leader that if I had to find my first gray hair, purchase reading glasses AND find out I was not qualified for a young married's study all in the same week I might have a temper tantrum) where we're reading the "Power of a Praying Wife/Husband" books and there's a point in the girls' book that says, "Just because you think it, doesn't mean you have to say it." Maybe my lack of desire/access to write is a blessing in disguise.
I'll hit the highlights:
- My friend Chelsea is doing MUCH BETTER! Fore more details on her recovery you can visit her website at CaringBridge.Org. Thank you all for praying for her.
- I've been fighting some hives for the last week and a half or so. We thought they were going away but then they came back a little. They don't itch (HALLELUJAH!), but they make me nervous. I have some prescription hydrocortisone cream, I've stopped using my new shampoo, all lotions and have re-rinsed all of my clothes. It's starting to get under control now. Keep your fingers crossed.
- My friend Beth has encouraged me to start playing my guitar again. She said I should be ready to lead some songs at Chick Night by September. Again, keep your fingers crossed.
- My plane ticket to Colombia is purchased and I am ready to go! We leave for South America at 11:59 on Friday, March 13th. No I'm not superstitious and yes, it still creeps me out a little bit.
- The night that our team leader, Donna, called to triple check that I was going to Colombia because she was going to buy the tickets and there was no going back after that - our furnace pooped out on us. We were only out for a couple days and it didn't cost too much to fix. I joked with someone that I might call an exorcist to come by the house...just in case.
- Matt's aunt was caught in the crossfire of a drive by gang shooting - she's okay and they caught the guy.
- Matt finished his J-term class and is still set to graduate in the spring!
- New eipsodes of Bones are back on TV!!! Yippie!!!
- No I'm not joining facebook. I don't care that it's THE best way to keep in touch with friends. I just don't feel like having everyone all up in my business all the time. To my friends who have emailed and called and stared me in the face while I adamantly declare that it's not going to happen: I love you but if you want to talk to me, you have my email address or my phone number or my mailing address. I can only be emotionally involved with so many forms of communication at one time and I've already hit my limit. Any more would feel like infidelity. (For crying out loud, I don't even send text messages!) For more information on this subject please read this Slate article - which did not change my position - but was nonethelss humorous.
