Psy-Skype

You know what I kind of wish? That we had the ability to do a sort of "chat" feature in our brains with our friends. So, If I'm at work and I want to talk with my friend Stephanie about "really important things" (meaning last night's Bones episode and what we think is going to happen next week), all I do is send a "chat request" by thinking it and then she can approve or deny it depending on if she's available or not. Then the things we want to say to each other will "type" themselves into our little "chat box" and transmit to the other person (either audibly in the speaker's voice or in writing - your preference) to be read or listened to between doing things like answering phone calls or teaching a child that throwing poop at the walls is a no-no - much in the same way you could walk away from your computer screen during a chat session for a snack or potty break. Then we can go through our day looking like we're working or doing productive things while still staying in touch with out friends without the hassle of being tied to a computer or the high cost of a smart phone and digital information cell phone package! I would call it Psychic Skype or Psy-Skype for short.

To be fair, there are some negatives that will need to be addressed:

1. Inappropriate...er..."Romantic" Conversations: Because that just doesn't need to happen during office hours. I think that there would need to be a feature that shut it off if your heart rate went above a certain level - or better yet a GPS feature that only allowed it at certain locations (LIKE, AT HOME!!!) and between certain people (but here we'd be regulating morality and while I'm all for that in those instances where a person's morals totally creep me out, I'm not sure that would fly - there would probably be law suits...)
2. Texting while driving: The program would automatically switch to "Audio" mode if you were traveling at or above a certain rate of speed.
3. Teenagers: Texting is already out of control with them so we'd have to put an 18-year age limit on it and/or an automatic blocking feature that would not allow communication while on school premises during school or extra-curricular hours.
4. Sleeping: Default status would be "offline" and after a certain number of minutes or hours of inactivity it would switch off - but hold it would your place in the conversation so you could get back to it if you needed to. Any conversation requests that came in while in "offline" status would be relegated to your "inbox" to be replied to as needed.
5. Lindsey Lohan isn't allowed to do it. Because she's just out of control waaaaaay beyond the level of an 18-year-old with an unlimited texting plan.
6. Maybe a permit or a mandatory 6 month waiting period should be required...
7. It might be a little bit too..."Borg" for some people to be comfortable with.

I'd call is Psychic Skype or PsySkype for short. Well, only if the Skype people funded the research and marketing. If not, we'd have to come up with something really catchy. (Psykpe? Skypic? Glass Cat? Don't ask about my train of thought on that last one.) Well Folks, whaddya think? Troublesome issues to be solved? Solutions to any evident problems?

What scares me is keeping from inadvertently "posting" private thoughts...ooops, I didn't mean for you to see that...
I never thought of psyskype before, but I've always wanted some kind of reader board on my car. So I could say "sorry, didn't mean to cut you off," or "Hello, trying to merge here"
Guess what--the girls and I get to go to Glorieta this year!! Will you be too pregnant and/or busy to go, or will we get to see you there?

For Kecia's issue, there can be a an optional safety feature that double-checks certain messages and plays them back to you before you send them out. Details pending...

Also, I really like how there isn't really a chance for anonymity on this one, so people can't hide. Or be mean. This is meant for convenience and should not be taken advantage of!
